Job Description:

Idaho Power is seeking a System Admin I or II who will under supervision, install, configure, upgrade, document, monitor and maintain software and hardware in support of business processing requirements. Supported systems may include operating systems, business applications, server hardware, security tools, monitoring tools, Web servers, Application servers, Integration servers, and other departmental or enterprise applications or systems.

Typical Job Duties:

  • Performs systems administration functions for assigned applications to ensure supported systems are reliable, efficiently maintained and available in order to support customer productivity

  • Implements, monitors, and documents processes and procedures to ensure compliance with many regulatory bodies

  • Provides project management for various application installations and upgrades and other projects as needed

  • Consults, as a Subject Matter Expert, with business units, and other IT organizations with planning, designing and configuring of IT solutions by clearly and effectively communicate technical information to non-technical and technical users

  • Determines technical requirements business processes, tests, debugs, and coordinates the implementation of moderately complex software solutions

  • Performs moderately complex incident and problem resolution and quality assurance reviews

  • Drafts and performs test plans and scripts to ensure systems meet established expectations

  • Being involved in developing new and modifying or adapting existing designs and minor interfaces and/or integrations for in-house development or 3rd party software

  • Performs system analysis and application documentation

  • Performs intermediate query, analysis and reporting activities

  • Set goals and manages time in alignment with team goals and duties.

  • Associate's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Prefer :

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, business, or a related field.


  • Level I – 2 years relevant IT experience.

  • Level II – 5 years of professional IT experience.


  • At least 2 years System/Application Administration or more than 5 years IT related experience.


The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete scheduled compliance training and submit to periodic background investigations as mandated by NERC.
