Job Description Summary:
Individual plans, coordinates, dispatches, monitors and supervises the safe, economic, and reliable minute-to-minute operation of the distribution system and System Operations Center (SOC); other duties include analyzing requests for transmission facility outages, preparing switching reports and directing the actual switching and tagging of the facilities; analyzing and preparing reports of system disturbances and interruptions and initiating remedial action during normal and abnormal system conditions; and implementing changes to System via the Distribution Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system as required. The ability to enforce high standards via work observations and feedback and coaching is necessary. The ability to work non-traditional shifts is required.
Applicants must be high school graduates with at least two years of formal technical training beyond high school or the equivalent is required. A minimum of ten years of related experience, including work in regional dispatching, generating station operations, electrical maintenance, or work of equivalent nature is required. The ability to analyze complex problems, follow all problems through to a successful conclusion and operate well under pressure is essential. A willingness and ability to work rotating shifts and overtime, plus the capacity to successfully pass the Pittsburgh Psychological test, is required.
