Job Description

The position of Manager of Distribution Design is immediately available in Avon, Indiana. Hendricks Power is a rural electric cooperative seeking a Distribution Designer to fill this position on the Engineering team which focuses on distributing electric service to members in 4 counties. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented, problem solver, good listener, self-starter, organized, people-person with good communication skills who likes to work in the office and outside the office in all types of weather.

The major responsibilities include overseeing the daily operation of the distribution design team and creating distribution design work orders for the electrical distribution of all consumer projects, residential, commercial and industrial, and ensure RUS design specifications and NESC requirements are adhered to.

Job Requirements


Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma/GED required

  • Associates degree in related field preferred

  • 3-4 Years of Supervisory experience preferred

  • Formal training or certification in AutoCAD preferred

  • Formal training or certification in distribution line design and staking preferred

  • 3-4 Years of relative work experience including positive customer service required

  • Efficient working with Staking Software and GPS equipment.

  • Strong exposure to various computer software

  • 3-4 Years of experience working with NESC and RUS design specifications required

Personal & Position Qualifications:

  • Must have the physical ability to lift/carry 5-10 lbs., work inside an office environment and sit at a desk to handle phone calls, various computer work, and talk with the general public, customers, and co-workers.

  • Must be physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions on walk on various terrain.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English with strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, and others.

  • Must be able to work independently and have leadership abilities.

  • Must be organized, extremely detailed oriented and able to meet project deadlines.

  • Must have strong mathematical abilities (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, and ratios) and able to apply algebra and geometry principles as well as physics tension and angles as it relates to distribution design.

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
