Web Design & Development Team Lead

Plans and supervises activities and projects that support Georgia Power’s web and digital presence. Provides leadership for the exploration, implementation, testing, and maintenance of new and existing technology including the design, development and maintenance of internal and external websites and select online and mobile applications for Georgia Power. Supervises a team of front-end and back-end developers and provides strategic direction for project management and solutions to functional and technical issues. Has a strong understanding and demonstrated experience in Web content, UX, site architecture, development, and design. The Web Team Lead is responsible for identifying an ideal user experience and using design and web analytics to achieve effective and optimal online presence for the company’s sites.


  • 5 years of experience leading the design and development of websites and mobile applications

  • Proven track record of successfully managing large corporate websites and associated digital assets

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CIS, CS, IA, Graphic Design or demonstrable equivalent experience

  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred

  • Experience with requirements gathering, information architecture, and UX design process for websites and Internet-facing applications

  • Knowledge ofHTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JSON, JQuery, and XML

  • Experience with network diagnostic and analytics tools including Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Webtrends, etc.

  • Experience with content management systems such as TeamSite, SharePoint, Adobe Experience Manager and Wordpress

  • Experience or working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud design software

  • Experience working through browser compatibility issues for all major browsers and platforms

  • Experience with e-commerce applications and product catalogs

  • Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills

  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple projects and competing priorities; the aptitude to monitor and adhere to schedules and budgets and perform in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to assess client needs and recommend effective solutions while developing solid relationships

  • Experience communicating complex web constraints and opportunities to non-technical decision makers

  • Strong oral and written communication skills


  • Support digital communication needs for Georgia Power, which include projects for internet, Intranet, mobile, HTML emails, animations, web video, digital display and digital signage.

  • Develop strategic and tactical plans for the delivery of web services

  • Maintain open communication and alignment with other shared services team leads to support collaborative processes and consistency of design and project delivery timelines

  • Manage the development and maintenance of Georgia Power websites; Citizen Online (internal website) and (external website) and facilitate development of mobile sites

  • Manage a team of web developers and designers

  • Facilitate the move of legacy web sites to Adobe Experience Manager (CMS) and oversee day-to-day maintenance and quality of content and functionality

  • Create website layouts and user interfaces by using standard HTML/CSS practices

  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs

  • Ensure that network analytics and measurement platforms are integrated in all web-based user interfaces

  • Incorporate SEO strategies to drive overall and campaign-specific web traffic

  • Collaborate with Southern Company IT to ensure alignment, compliance and network security

  • Consult with clients on opportunities to better support the client’s goals and the business strategies of the company while managing expectations

  • Stay well-informed of new and existing technologies and apply them to digital communication projects, as applicable

  • Create and maintain software documentation

  • Participate in Emergency Nuclear Communication drills
