The purpose of this position is to identify and conduct analytic activities to support all of AGL’s local distribution company’s, including market segmentation, forecasting, CRM/data analysis, modeling and financial reporting to assist sales, marketing and other business units with project/program planning or strategic decision-making.

Functional Expertise:

  • Identifies, tracks and forecasts patterns in residential, commercial and industrial customer base for all franchises to include customer counts, new meters, margin, consumption, marketing program costs and ROI, and leading indicators of customer activity.

  • Supports Marketing & Sales Management in identifying new customers, markets and applications for natural gas and assesses the business impact of those implications.

  • Uses analytic models to segment customers to determine optimum product offerings, messaging, channels and programs to achieve highest ROI.

  • Develops forecast models to help predict outcomes of marketing programs.

  • Perform data analysis, compile and distribute reports on customer growth, attrition and margin performance; make recommendations and findings and report to management.

  • Use external data sources to supplement internal sources of data for CRM/database analysis and segmentation.

  • Coordinate ad hoc requests for data analysis and market feasibility models.

  • Responsible for the forecasting of customer growth and attrition with the use of statistical modeling software.

  • Prepare variance analysis on budget and forecast results.

  • Prepare monthly Marketing & Sales reports and responsible for compiling and maintaining cost, economic, and energy data.

  • Participate in special projects, as requested.

Business Acumen:

  • Apply industry, marketing, business and analytical knowledge to support marketing and strategy decisions.

  • Assists in identifying new markets and margin growth opportunities.

  • Serve as technical and consultative resource on market research studies.


  • Build strong working relationships with Marketing Team and cross-functional departments to provide effective analytic resources and methodologies for measurement, tracking and verification of sales/marketing programs and results.

Driving Results:

  • Track and report on marketing program effectiveness, including response rates, conversion rates and ROI.

  • Conduct post-campaign segmentation analysis to refine segmentation criteria for continual improvement of results in marketing strategies.


Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, statistics, business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Related Work Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2 years of experience or a combination of education and experience

Preferred :

  • 3-4 years of experience in marketing, market research, statistics, business or related field.

Specific Skills & Knowledge:


  • Strong analytical skills and ability to contribute to planning and strategic thinking.

  • Ability to develop and execute projects with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and with Data Management

Preferred :

  • Proficient with statistical modeling software (SAS, SPSS) and Advanced Microsoft office skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
