Position Description

The primary role of this position is the oversight and management of the development and execution of the Capital Expenditure and Major Outage process in AES. This role will serve as a liaison between AES affiliates and internal departments (in particular Supply Chain, FP&A, and Fixed Assets) to ensure timeliness of delivery for projects, project schedules, assessment and delivery of the specifications, manpower needs, and timelines. This role will support plants to develop an effective 48-month window investment program, maintain appropriate documentation of the budgeting process, management of dates from beginning to close, tracking in SAP and internal planning database.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the capital/investment process for AES businesses.

  • Support in the development of project budgets, track cost and benefits.

  • Serve as liaison between businesses and Supply Chain.

  • Coordinate the development of guidelines and procedures in coordination with Finance.

  • Define and establish method to track cost / benefits in SAP.

  • Coordinate the development and enhancement of the investment systems.

  • Manage and track implementation progress, costs and benefits.

  • Manage relationship with businesses.

  • Perform quality assurance checks of information and reports by AES and subsidiaries.

  • Perform program analysis reporting.

  • Assist with personnel coaching issues/concerns to guarantee a well-executed planning process.

  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, AES subsidiaries, and partners.

  • Development and deployment of new technologies in AES subsidiaries.

  • Coordinate and support the implementation of Asset Management standard work streams.

Skills Required

  • Experience in investment planning for Coal or Gas energy generating plants.

  • Prior experience in technical design, planning, project budgeting and scheduling.

  • Skillful in SAP Plant Maintenance; Project Systems and Investment Management modules preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities.

  • Ability to work across multiple interrelated projects and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Proven ability to communicate verbally and in writing at both the detailed level needed by project teams and the summary level required for executive communication.

  • Convey a high degree of professional competence in all forums and venues.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in the Energy Industry (utility business).

  • Technical and business experience in the utility industry, particularly power generation business.

  • Experience in management of personnel and contractors.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Bilingual abilities preferred.

  • Advanced analytical skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
