- MBA Leadership Development Program (LDP) Description*
DTE Energy is seeking ambitious, energetic individuals to join the MBA Leadership Development Program (LDP). This program is designed to recruit and develop the next generation of DTE Energy leaders. The LDP is a three year rotational assignment.
During the three years of the program, participants will:
Be assigned to challenging, high-profile projects that support corporate strategic priorities across many of the company’s business units, addressing the complex challenges facing the energy industry today
Receive extensive formal and informal training and mentorship to learn about the energy industry and hone analytical, communication, problem solving, continuous improvement, and leadership skills
Gain significant exposure to DTE Energy leaders, organizations, and operations
Upon completion of the program and subject to satisfactory performance, participants will have the opportunity to move into meaningful and exciting roles around DTE Energy based on their interests and company needs, and to continue to receive extensive mentorship and support as they progress through their careers in the company.
Participants in the MBA LDP will perform their rotational assignments in two organizations, Corporate Strategy and Corporate Finance. At least one year will be spent with each group, with the exact amount of time driven by business needs and participant interests.
The Corporate Strategy team, based in Ann Arbor, serves as the company’s internal management consulting organization. The group leads engagements that typically last from 3-6 months supporting the most senior leaders’ strategic priorities across the utilities and corporate functions. Though participants will be based in the Ann Arbor office, they should expect that on some projects they may spend up to several days a week at the “client site” – usually the Detroit office or another Southeastern Michigan company location.
The Corporate Finance team, based in Detroit, has primary responsibility for corporate growth and value creation, including corporate M&A, capital project reviews, dividend policy, financing strategy assessments, and valuation analysis. The group also provides analytical and financial support as needed to cross-functional projects that provide exposure to business units and support staffs. This team is located in DTE Energy’s headquarters, where they have the opportunity to work side by side with colleagues from nearly all the corporate organizations.
Recruiting for the MBA LDP occurs in the fall of each year on campus at select business schools, and online via DTE Energy’s Careers website for candidates at other business schools.
