Duties include but are not limited to:
Performs all the direct duties of the Utility Worker-FS.
Performs non-asbestos insulation removal and assists with installation.
Performs general clean-up work including asbestos insulation, steam cleaning, parts cleaning, and vacuuming (excluding hydro lasers). Recharges fire extinguishers.
Drives CDL vehicles (excluding condors) and operates auxiliary mounted equipment (except bucket truck), operates manlifts (up to a height of 75 feet), trenchers, skid loaders, and material handling equipment such as forklifts. Does not operate boom to set poles or to operate auxiliary mounted equipment in energized areas.
Performs burning and cutting operations not adjacent to pressure points.
Performs work from self-supporting structures of any height including full boiler scaffolding. Erects and performs work from hanging scaffolds, spiders, or similar support devices up to a height of 75 feet.
Supplies and transfers tools and equipment by handling ropes, tying knots, and doing simple rigging and hoisting.
Performs minor repairs such as painting, concrete repair, etc. on vaults and manhole steel, Low Tension Network transformers, pad-mounted transformers, streetlight standards, OCR’s, oil switches, circuit breakers, bushings and relay & controls.
While performing the aforementioned tasks, assists personnel of higher classifications working on energized equipment.
Assists with railroad repairs and maintenance on fleet trains and tracks, repairing and replacing switches, rails, ties, and ballast. Cuts rails and drills holes.
As directed, receives, identifies, inspects, marks, delivers and stores material, tools and equipment.
Performs simple clerical or paperwork such as job material inventory records, various field reports and preparing orders.
Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
Candidate Qualifications Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.
Successfully passing the CAST exam at Level Five.
Motor vehicle operator’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL license within six (6) months (All Regional Helpers and Helper-Material) or when required by the company (Generation Support Helpers).
General knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
Intelligence adequate to observe conditions, learn methods including basic computer-based applications pertaining to the job, and follow instructions.
Strength and endurance to perform the above duties.
Ability to obtain Asbestos Worker license.
Ability to adhere to the Safety Rules applicable to the work performed.
Ability to obtain respirator certification.
