This position is located at FirstEnergy's West Akron Campus in Akron, OH and reports to the Supervisor of IT solutions. The SAP ABAP developer works across a dynamic team of technical and business resources to deliver SAP ABAP solutions. We seek an individual with a combination of SAP ABAP development experience and solid systems analysis/design skills to deliver business solutions through their entire lifecycle.
Participation in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of SAP solutions across different modules:
Requirements Analysis: Attending workshops with business clients to collect requirements and facilitate the development of quality functional and technical specifications.
Design: Proposing custom SAP solutions that will be used to meet business requirements.
Construction: Creating, maintaining and administering SAP solutions that adhere to FirstEnergy’s development standards. Anticipating, identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving development issues.
Test: Developing and executing detailed unit test plans. Work with and lead the business customers during user acceptance. Unit, integration and stress testing for application projects, upgrades, or maintenance and also the development and maintenance of the test plans.
Implement: Providing production support of implemented functionality. Develop clear documentation for completed products.
Provideing sound customer service by exceeding customer needs.
Production Support: Providing high level estimates on the effort required to complete work requests. Investigating, debugging and resolving problems reported.
Responding to calls that come into the Help Desk and support customers.
Working Flexible hours and be available for call-in and after hours support (7x24 operations)
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, a related degree, or commensurate experience.
Minimum of 4 years experience in ABAP development in ECC 6.0, specifically with Function Modules, RFC’s, User
Exits/Enhancements, Dialog Programming, Reports, BAPI’s and SapScript/SMARTFORMS.
Experience across multiple SAP ERP modules is preferred.
Knowledge of Data Dictionary, Workflow, ABAP Objects, IDOCs, and performance improvement is required.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a production support environment. Analytical skills to effectively resolve technical problems, identify and implement process improvements, and think creatively.
Must be skilled in both oral and written communications in order to facilitate meetings, capture requirements as well as write documentation, specifications, procedures and process flows.
Understanding and willingness to embrace application development standards and processes.
Ability to effectively prioritize and plan activities, work on multiple concurrent tasks, and meet deadlines.
Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects, aptitude to learn quickly.
Highly motivated to work independently and productively but also able to work in a virtual environment (working with remote co-workers using virtual technologies)
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, and be available for call-in and after hours support if needed.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, in particular Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
Ability to learn new concepts in information technology, learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology
