About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

The Financial Reporting department is a dynamic, fast paced environment with responsibility to provide accounting recommendations, financial information and insights to executives of a Fortune 500 company. The department also provides oversight to ensure financial information is made available to diverse users, including internal management, the Board of Directors, stock exchanges and government agencies.

The positions are located at the Corporate Office and report to the Manager, Financial Reporting. There are two openings.


As an Analyst, you’ll have a number of exciting and rewarding opportunities available to you. In this role, you may participate in any of the following activities:

  • Consolidation of FirstEnergy subsidiaries, financial statement and disclosure preparation, SOX compliance, XBRL review and SEC and other regulatory reporting responsibilities

  • Coordination with various departments throughout the company including Treasury, General Accounting, Investor Relations, Property Accounting and Operational Business Units.

  • Professional level work in the preparation, maintenance, analysis, validation, research, interpretation, review and management of financial statements and accounting guidance.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required. Advanced degree or CPA preferred

  • Minimum 2 - 7 years professional work experience required, experience within public accounting or external reporting in a corporate setting preferred

  • Exposure to US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, financial statement preparation and technical accounting research

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
